Chair and Microphone, Vol. 3 RELEASED!

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

Chair and Microphone, Vol. 3Yes, friends, it is finally here! Featured on this album is the lovely and passionate Karla Adolphe of Jacob and Lily from Winnipeg, Canada. We met Karla and Gary, her husband, several years ago at a workshop for developing arts missionaries and just loved them both right away. We have become great friends and love spending time together.

In traditional Chair and Microphone (and Enter The Worship Circle for that matter) style we recorded this album in about 4 or 5 days. We used our studio space here in our home, and captured some wonderful songs on both guitars and piano–an old stanky upright with some gorgeous, thick tones.

The album is available in both MP3 and CD form right away! Come on over and give it a listen for free before you buy!

Here is a excerpted review from a friend who just got the album: “OH MAN THIS IS FREAKIN’ INCREDIBLE! I can’t tell you guys how much I love the new CD–really, it has moved me and I’m wearing it out. When y’all sing for God to wake up and deal with the injustice and wickedness, a spirit of fire dances around inside and I can’t sit still. It brought me back to this moment in Eritrea along the border when a Tigray shepherd boy, probably 11 or 12 years old, stepped on one of the million land mines there. Much of one leg was destroyed as well a wounding to his hands and other leg. We got him to some basic medical help rather quickly, but the Eritrean President refused to allow a UN helicopter to pick him up, so he had to travel in truck for several hours to reach a hospital in Asmara. My guess is he probably didn’t survive. The song just brings out the pain of that injustice, yet leaves me with a sense of hope that God is with us. Thank you for letting your prophetic voices sing about family. The whole CD gives me hope that love is gaining momentum like the weight of a wave that is building and I want to ride it. “

Worship Circle at iTunes
Why? Because we made them just for you. Over the years it has been clear to us that what Enter The Worship Circle does best is equip others to say, “I can do it!” Our podcasts take this usefulness to the next level! Ever wanted to see a Worship Circle song being recorded? Ever wanted to hear the artist talk about why and where the song was written? Want to hear Ben and Robin teaching and equipping even though you couldn’t be there? We think the next 10 years for us will be more about these podcasts and less about many other kinds of media production…so get on board!

Here is how it works. First download iTunes if you don’t have it, it is fast, safe, and free. Then visit our Podcasts page at our website and choose one or all! The link will open iTunes, you choose “Subscribe” on the iTunes page, and you are done! Another way it go to the iTunes store and search “Worship Circle” to find all at one time. The new episodes will download whenever we release them, old ones will disappear off your computer, and if you don’t ever listen to the show the subscription will just go away. Wow.

Arequipa picturesArequipa picturesArequipa picturesArequipa picturesOk, we just couldn’t help it, we wanted to share more photos! Arequipa was a beautiful place, and though a small slice of Peruvian life, we are sure it was representative in many ways of the beauty of Peru. These pics (you can click them for a bigger view) give you a pic of a team breakfast, a big Saturday night concert shot, Tim feeding a fried cuy (guinea pig) who eventually fed us, and Jonadab a boy about seven who love percussion and is holding a little shaker we gave him that night at the concert. His family, and many friends, lost much in the earthquake in Peru last year and so were pleased to give them a drum and a guitar as well since they lost most of their possessions in the destruction.

I would like to take the time to commend our team Tim Thornton, Aaron Strumpel, Tracy Howe, Doug and Rita Roberts, who Robin and I had the pleasure to serve with…it was wonderful to work alongside family.  We would also drop this website address to our new friends there so you can read more and take interest in the work of great people.  In the right hand side of the page you will see more links to others in the area and more…

Wrapping up in Peru

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

Arequipa SongwritingHello, everyone! I am typing on a little table in our hotel the last night of our 10 days or so here in Arequipa, Peru. It has been great. Other than the usual stomach adventures we have had no serious obstacles to the work of encouraging the leaders, pastors, and people that we came to serve! Thanks for your prayers.

The picture is a shot of a songwriting session held in this very same room (where I am typing). Though we performed a large concert event, and had larger events during the week, these three songwriting sessions were some of our favorite works of the whole trip because we got to share our favorite Worship Circle encouragement: “You can do it!” In every session, every person–whether from this city or from a village high in the mountains where Spanish is not even their native tongue–wrote a new worship song on their own! This was as important fulfillment to the wishes of local leaders who wanted their people to be empowered to put worship and intercession into their own voice, in their own tongue…fantastic.
