Here is an improvisational song from a house concert at Matt Ayers’ in Colorado Springs.  We had just finished a huge version of “Give Me Your Hand” from the Fourth Circle and we realized we needed a “cool down” before we attempted some Christmas songs.  Here is the unedited improv featuring Tim and Laurie Thorton, Karla Adolphe, Aaron Strumpel, Caleb Friesen, and Ben and Robin Pasley…that’s right…the first time the Fourth Circle crew have all performed together!

This is a great version of the song “Sweep Me Away” from the Fourth Circle album…but it didn’t make the album.  It contains a false start, a confession from Tim, and some subtle differences from the final track.  Can you find them?

We roll some silliness from the “cutting room floor” and play Name That Tune.  You can hear some false starts, bad takes, and then the full version of the song from the Fourth Circle.  It is about 9 and a half minutes long.

Here is a podcast of an unpublished recording take of the song “All The Way Home” from the Fourth Circle.  It is just crazy fun to hear the song coming together for the very first time.  We think this kind of stuff is very fitting for a crew (us) who obsess over the spontaneous and actual because the human element in art is where the real beauty lies… Some extra kudos for Tim and Laurie Thornton of the Blackthorn Project.  Read Tim’s blog now.
